Today marks the 70th
Republic Day celebrations in India. While everyone is glued to their television
screens to watch the parade, celebs are taking to their social media handles to
wish their fans.
Today marks the celebrations
of the 70th Republic Day. After a long struggle and guidance under Mahatma
Gandhi, Bharat achieved freedom from the British Raj in 1947. Independence came
through the Indian Independence Act of 1947 under the Parliament of the United Kingdom
that “partitioned British India into two new independent Dominions of the
Commonwealth. Despite having received Independence, India didn’t have a
permanent constitution.
Under the guidance of
Dr. BR Ambedkar, the constitution came to be on Jan 26, 1950. Since then, in
this day is celebrated by a parade on Rajpath with the President and Prime Minister
in attendance. While everybody sits in front of the tv screen to watch the
parade, celebrities go for their social media handles to wish like their fans a
Happy Republic Day.
