After giving successful with crime-thriller Andhadhun, Ayushmann Khurrana is back on the silver screen with coming-of-age drama Badhaai Ho. The film, also prima Sanya Malhotra, Neena Gupta, and Gajraj Rao chronicle the story of a family which is dealing with an accidental pregnancy. Releasing along with Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra Namaste England, the film incorporates a higher probability of playing higher at the price ticket counters.
Trade analyst Girish Johar says, “Badhaai Ho is a light comedy and it has a more effective trailer. It has got the movie buffs excited for the film. So, it has a higher chance of overpowering Namaste England in terms of box office numbers. It is expected to mint Rs 6-7 crore on the day of its release.”
The release of Badhaai Ho and Namaste England has been shifted from Friday to Thursday to make the most out of the Dusshera holiday. Johar believes, “The partial vacation on Thursday can have an effect on the collection of each the films. In the end, it'll all depend on the word of mouth because the audience now no longer is driven by star power. They like content over the actors in a movie.”
Talking about Badhaai Ho, director Amit Ravindernath told us, “I always wanted to make a comedy film. However, the thought was to form a movie supported situational comedy. you must have got an idea with the trailer. we've got not written one dialogue in an attempt to form the audience laugh. they'll crack up as a result of the things are going to be such.”
From past two weeks, it's Sriram Raghavan directorial Andhadhun that has been pulled the audience to theaters. Last week’s four releases, Helicopter Eela, Fryday, Tumbbad and Jalebi failing drastically at the box workplace. They didn't even bit the Rs 10 crore mark. Now, with Badhaai Ho bringing an unconventional story on the 70mm screens, it might be interesting to know if one Ayushmann Khurrana movie can overshadow the other.
